Since I always prepare extra meals at home, I offered to share some with her. I planned to drop off the food after work to make sure she had something to eat. Just as I was about to leave, I opened Instagram for a quick scroll.

To my surprise, I saw her latest post, smiling at a restaurant with friends. The table was filled with fancy dishes, and everyone looked happy. At first, I felt confused and a little unsure about what was going on.

I wondered if maybe someone had treated her or if it was an old photo. Instead of jumping to conclusions, I decided to call her and ask how she was doing. When we talked, she admitted she had been feeling embarrassed about her situation.

She posted the photo because she didn’t want people to know she was struggling. Her words made me realize how social media can hide what’s really happening in someone’s life. Things aren’t always as they seem online.

I still brought her the meals, and we spent time talking honestly about her challenges. That day reminded me of the importance of kindness and understanding. Sometimes the greatest help we can offer is simply to listen without judgment.

Appearances can be misleading, but genuine care speaks louder than any post. A little compassion can change someone’s entire day.
