One evening, as we sat on the porch of our new home, Harvey turned to me with a gentle smile. “You know, Serena, meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Tears filled my eyes as I leaned down to kiss him. “I feel the same way, Harvey. You are my happily ever after.”
James, on the other hand, learned his lesson the hard way. He lost his job, his marriage, and the respect of his colleagues. But that was his path. As for me, I had found love, happiness, and a fresh start in my thirties: a reminder that it’s never too late to find your fairytale ending.
Our wedding was a small, intimate affair with only close friends and family. As we danced under the twinkling lights, I looked around and realized how much my life had changed for the better. I had found my peace and joy with Harvey, and I couldn’t have asked for more.
“Here’s to a new beginning,” Harvey whispered in my ear.
“To our new beginnings,” I echoed, knowing our adventure was only just beginning.
