One evening, as we sat on the porch of our new home, Harvey turned to me with a soft smile. “You know, Serena, meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Tears filled my eyes as I leaned in to kiss him. “I feel the same way, Harvey. You’re my happily ever after.”
James, on the other hand, learned his lesson the hard way. He lost his job, his marriage, and the respect of his colleagues. But that was his path to walk. As for me, I had found love, happiness, and a new beginning in my 30s: a reminder that it’s never too late to find your fairytale ending.
Our wedding was a small, intimate affair with just close friends and family. As we danced under the twinkling lights, I looked around and realized how much my life had changed for the better. I had found my peace and joy with Harvey, and I couldn’t have asked for more.
“Here’s to new beginnings,” Harvey whispered in my ear.
“To new beginnings,” I echoed, knowing that our adventure was just beginning.
