A Beautiful Woman Paid Me $500 to Pretend to Be Her Boyfriend – It Almost Cost Me Everything

“You’re manipulating me,” I said.

She shrugged without a hint of shame. “So? You’re already in this deep. If you try to back out now or say anything to my dad, I’ll just twist the story. I’ll make you look like the creep who was harassing me. Who do you think he’ll believe? His beloved daughter or some random employee?”

My hands tightened on the steering wheel. “This is insane.”

“See you next week,” she said as I pulled up to her apartment building. “Don’t disappoint me, Anthony.”

What she didn’t know was that I’d been recording our conversation on my phone the entire drive home. Her casual admission of manipulation and threats was all captured in crystal-clear audio.

The next morning, I walked straight into David’s office. My hands were shaking, but I knew I had to come clean before this went any further.

“Sir, I need to tell you something about your daughter and me,” I began, then laid out the entire story.

I explained how I’d met Meredith, how I hadn’t known she was his daughter, and how trapped I felt.

To back up my story, I played the recording from the car where she’d admitted to manipulating me.

I fully expected to be fired on the spot.

Instead, David burst out laughing.

“I figured as much,” he said, wiping a tear from his eye. “You’re not the first guy she’s pulled this stunt with, Anthony. Every month it’s a new ‘boyfriend.’ Her mother still can’t accept that Meredith prefers women, so my daughter brings home a different guy every month just to keep up the charade.”

I sat there, trying to process what he’d just told me.

He leaned back in his chair and continued, “I’ve known about Meredith’s real preferences for years, but her mother is old-fashioned. Rather than cause family drama, I just let Meredith handle it her way. What I didn’t expect was for her to start threatening and manipulating these poor guys.”

“So… I’m not fired?” I asked, hardly believing this conversation was real.

“Fired? Hell no,” David chuckled. “I actually respect that you came to me instead of caving to her threats. That shows real character. I’ll have a serious talk with Meredith about her behavior, and I’ll make sure my wife understands the situation too.”

He stood up and walked me to the door. “Delete that recording, Anthony. This stays between us.”

I nodded and pulled out my phone, deleting the audio file right there in front of him.

Of course, I didn’t mention the backup copy I’d already saved to my laptop. Just in case.

A week later, I got promoted to marketing manager. A month after that, I was leading my own team.

And Meredith? She never called me again.

I heard through office gossip that her parents had finally had “the talk” with her, and she’d stopped the fake boyfriend routine altogether.

Sometimes I still think about that crazy month and shake my head. Five hundred dollars almost cost me everything I’d worked for. But in the end, being honest and standing up for myself turned out to be the best career move I ever made.

And Mom? She’s doing great, thanks to that promotion and the raise that came with it.
